Sonia Zapata was raised in Santa Clarita, which is where she attended local schools including Saugus and Canyon High School. Prior to graduating high school, she ran track and was an avid softball player which ultimately led to her earning a 4-year scholarship to play Division 1 softball at Long Island University.
In 2006 Sonia Zapata earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical therapy from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. She recently earned her doctorate in physical therapy from Evidence in Motion. In addition, she obtained a Manual Therapy Certification which expands her hands-on and diagnostic skills.
Over the course of her physical therapy career, Sonia has specialized in neurological rehabilitation treating patients who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries (TBI), spinal cord injuries, and stroke. She focused on these rewarding areas for many years prior to treating patients in orthopedics and sports medicine.
